I see people are logged in but why is it so QUIETin here?

Maybe some are like me and leave their comps sitting while they beat their dogs. I feel like I'm playing tag sometimes. That search for people feature is cool, but I may disable it at some point so people don't spend the night playing tag and wasting bandwidth(my paranoid side shows) every added querry puts us closer to month end meltdown. though I kind of c doubt that will happen.

I wish they had a bandwidth gas gauge rather than just a warning at 80%.

Yeah, AV, shut the frillies & save the bandwidth. My vague notion is that volunteers take turns to financially sponsor the site a month at a time. Now I'm thinking that when/if C-SPAN throws some skeleton up, this will be largely abandoned. But let's make plans anyway.

I was off checking those old C-SPAN boards -- from three-plus years back. That's a discussion in itself. So many boards, so many topics, so many posters. What high hopes they must have had -- including chats & invited guests.

It was a much more vital and wide place, way back then. Their "reforms" over time, and time, and time, didn't concentrate but rather stultified it, I think. I don't know that they will want to rebirth that dream. They seemed to feel it was -- as 4Ward keeps pointing out -- too unruly (though in the main it was not).

Anyway -- it's late, I'm tired .... but yeah, if I were you I'd cut off the fancy features that burn the bandwidth, or ask people if they do want to pay for them.

As for frills and bandwidth I was thinking I'd leave some of it on so we can all see what is possible. toward the end of the month if I haven't gotten an 80% warning I may let is all hang out. Who knows, it may all run out today.

2 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 cans fruit cocktail (undrained)
2 eggs, beaten
1 small box raisins
1 pinch salt
1 or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Butter Rum Sauce, recipe follows


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cube donuts into a large bowl. Pour other ingredients on top of donuts and let soak for a few minutes. Mix all ingredients together until donuts have soaked up the liquid as much as possible.

Bake for 1 hour. Top with Butter Rum Sauce.


Butter Rum Sauce:
1 stick butter
1 pound box confectioners' sugar
Rum, to taste
Melt butter and slowly stir in confectioners' sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving of Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding.

I think I'll stick with cookies & moonpies.
