HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME
july 27, 1995 i stumbled on the RE-AIRING of the WACO Hearings.
i haven't stopped watching.
as of 3/4/2000 i had watched over 1800 days of C-SPAN
5475 hours
the sick part of it is:
i recorded most of it on my VCR ( and still carry those tapes, some one take me away)
that's buckin futts.
i don't like it any more than you do
it's just what i DID
******************
sept 10 2001 i was video recording AMERICAN WRITERS WILL ROGERS segment
and still watched/studied C-SPAN like a bandit.
like i had the rest of my life to tell people the virtues of C-SPAN.
after that day
i
can
barely
stomache
C-SPAN
something about the people that work there
the producers
the moderators
the interns answering the phones and hanging up on me more than 5 times in less than a year
(during that time i heard other callers complain that they had been hung up on) hmmm
i have watched less than 1 complete months worth of C-SPAN in three years.
i have felt slighted by C-SPAN
and the way some of the moderators talk down to people/callers
an extremely informed caller will get cutoff and
the village idiot is asked to comment on this that and the other thing
and
some moderators talk to the inarticulate like:
"HELLO!!!! WHAT! DO! YOU! THINK! OF THE POLITICAL!!!SYSTEM!!!
HEY!!!!!!!
they're not deaf
just inarticulate
they also mollycoddle students and teachers like they are the only people that want to start studing CULTURE, POLITCS OR HISTORY
hey!!!!!
i didn't see C-SPAN
see C-SPAN run
run C-SPAN run
until i was 30 yrs old
more on this sick obsession later
this plan is random at best
(i can't wait to learn how to add a quote)

I used to watch every day, but when they pulled the plug on their community I quit for quite a while. I still listen to WJ like the radio in the AM, but don't spend near as much time with hearings or speeches just running in the background.
I note the call-ins seem to have a lot more people with contrived speeches and talking points lately. With no back and forth they begin to all sound the same. Rehearsed or read off a paper to keep them in the proper time frame.

Eddie was a troll who tried, and succeeded at, pissing everyone off on the old c-span site. He's not here, so it's all water over the dam anyhow.
"Hardleft" was anothr c-span poster who hasn't shown up here, I think.

Eddie was a jerk at C-Span.
hardleft started a Yahoo club to screw up mine but never took care of it.
Don't know where hardleft is but Eddie gets booted out of hannity.com forums with regularity.

Thanks for the haloscan link. Since people can leave feedback right here I'm not sure it applies to us.
I've got some saturday chores to do but maybe I'll look at it more this afternoon.

Nosy doesn't bother me. There are literally thousands of posts here that are personal little bits that take some context to understand. It's like a little dysfunctional web family.

Welcome, CJ! I hope we didn't scare off the guy at your old home!
As for Eddie, he is/was either the troll to end all trolls, or an Eliza-type program pretending to be a person by means of a fill-in-the-blanks "You're _____ing now" endless loop.

What AV said. Some of us have 'known' each other for years, from C-SPAN before here, and before that CNN, and before that, policy.com.
You don't really have to read all the old posts, y'know. You're welcome to just jump in and get acquainted and learn the political viewpoints of others as you go. Almost more fun that way. It's been a long time since we've all stated our viewpoints and philosophies from the basics on up!

I dunno.
I think that the old posts are at least as interesting as the new ones.

I went back on the News Today board and read all the election day messages. Quite interesting. Like watching a tape of an old sporting even. You could actually watch the tide turn from Kerry to Bush.
Also read all the jokes.

True. But I wanted to get a flavor for the place and election night seemed like a good place to do it.

Actually, that's a rather thoughtful approach.

Yes, we really WERE the C-SPAN faithful, and were very offended when they rather abruptly shut down the official C-SPAN Community board, just before the election, promising it was for the long-discussed "remodelling and update", and then it fell off the face of the earth. Hence, our new name.
We sure didn't go quietly into that good night, did we?
THANK YOU, AV, for setting this up for us!
