Fostering Public Safety through Community Building, Education, and Outreach

Never before has safety been such a hallmark issue among the nation's cities and towns. Violent crime has increased across the nation, and attacks on police officers have reached an all time high since the acts of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. In Tucson and Pima County in 2008, serious attacks on police officers and sheriff's deputies continue to increase, calling for a need to provide support for our law enforcement members. On June 1, 2008 an assailant armed with a high caliber rifle wounded two Pima County Sheriff Deputies and killed a Tucson Police Officer. The Tucson Police Foundation needs your help in the fight against crime.

06/02/2008 :: Ofc. Erik Hite Killed in Line of Duty
Tucson Police Officer Erik Hite was ambushed on June 1, suffering fatal injuries. He is survived by his wife, two children, and many family members. The <a href="http://www.tpoa.org/tpoa/home.cfm" target="_blank">TPOA will continue to do everything they can to make this difficult time as comfortable as possible for the family.

A benefit fund has been established to assist Ofc. Hite's family. Anyone interested in donating can do so at any Wells Fargo branch. The account number for the TPOA Ofc. Hite Benefit Fund is #2475164071. TPOA is asking the public to give what they can, and keep the Hite family in their thoughts and prayers.
