I saw a couple of television series premiers last night and I have some comments about them.

"Ghost Whisperer" debuted last night and it should have stayed home. This show is so wrapped in antiquated stereotype it dulls the imagination. The sound and visual effects are derived from a 50's B--- movie and the acting accentuates "act". This is Jennifer Love Hewitt at her worst. Very disappointing and trite.

"Killer Instinct" wasn't much better. The opening slogged along so tediously that I turned it off. It seemed to have the potential to peak my interest and I'll give it another try next week.

Darn, and I was going to watch Ghost whisperer. I had a feeling it wasn't going to be too good.

I haven't seen anything really new on in a while.

Have you caught the "So You Think You Can Dance" show on Wed. @ 8:00 p.m.? It's now coming down to the wire. There will be only 4 dancers left. These dancers are unbelievable!!! Every week they get better and better. They dance everything from ~~~HOT~~~Salsa to Ballroom...and the Hip Hop is like you've never seen it*****

My favorites are Nick and Melody.
Arturo_Vandelay
I like O'Herlihy, the guy from Seinfeld. Don't like dancing much. I had to take cotillion as a kid and it ruined many a saturday. sad.gif

Still, I know a few steps and most people don't anymore. Maybe I'll switch by sometime.

It's ironic that I wasn't planning to watch Ghost Whisperers because it didn't sound like it was going to be good. I gave it a shot (maybe because I like Jennifer Love Hewitt) and for me... I liked the show. The story was a good story....but maybe for me.....focusing on Hewitt I tend to not pay any attention to anything else. smile.gif laugh.gif

As for other newbies, there are plenty to choose from. I tend to lean towards Sci-fi, action adventures, cop shows, and just plain weird stuff. (might that explains...ME!) biggrin.gif

Of the best, I'd rate 'Prison Break' as number one. The three new Sci-Fi series, Threshold, Surface, Invasion have all held my interest. Threshold may be the best of the three. I was sorta disappointed in Bones, but will give it another shot. Criminal Minds was OK. I got E-ring on tape and haven't watched it yet. Since I have too many 'old favorites' returning, I probably won't be trying any other new shows with the exception of 'Commander-in-Chief' which sounds like it could be pretty good!

Which reminds me! huh.gif

There's rumors going around that Michael Moore is working on a new TV series called 'Presidential conspiracies'. It deals strickly with the administration of George W. Bush and each episode is base on actual events through the minds of far-lefties. It deals with the planting of exposives in the Twins towers... to the sending of a missile into the Pentagon on 9/11 and the recent conspiracy that the levees were blown up to get rid of all the blacks in N.O. It has also been reported that one of our own....Inyerface will be the main writer for the series. blink.gif smile.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I'm sure the silky nightgown and the skimpy T's had something to do with your review~~~ I take it "Stacker" is on your A list too laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Anyway, I find that JLH has as much animation as Marcia Cross' forehead and the show was udderly predictable—no surprise in this cracker jack box.

My son is heavy into Sci-Fi too. I'll tell him about "Threshold" as I don't care for Sci-Fi. It's just too too.

I agree with you on "Prison Break." It's very realistic and keeps the action going. A friend of mine was going on and on about it, so I watched it and thought it was worth the view.

"Bones" is a show that is intriguing. It was much better than I thought it would be. It shows a side to investigation that is new to me and I find the main characters interesting. Maybe it didn't have enough "shoot-em up" action for you, but I liked it.

I had taped "Criminal Minds" and I watched it last night. It totally wrapped me up in Quantico. I LOVE it! I learned from it and the plot had me guessing. This is a keeper in my book.

LOL!!! Michael Moore and Inyerface taking Sci-Fi to a new dimension laugh.gif

Watched the premier of 'Commander-In-Chief' about a woman taking over the presidency of the US after the president...'croaked', starting Geena Davis.

Observation: Overall not a bad show. Not going to be my favorite by any means, but definitely worth a second look. The show should become more interesting next week when the 'political back stabbing' starts. I guess that the producers and writers are very much aware of what goes on in Washington! biggrin.gif

One side note: The writers of the show took a couple of 'potshots' at Hillary which got a couple of laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif out of me! smile.gif
Russ Logan
Yeo, CIC could prove interesting.

A few landmines have already been planted to ensure future roadblocks -

1. Husband thinks he will be the eventual Chief-of-Staff and the new Pres hasn't had the courage/time to tell him the truth. Family crisis on the way!

2. Husband will, I hope, eventually blow completely up if the lady showing him around the WH in the first episode refers to him and his new role as "First Lady" yet again! biggrin.gif His uneasy forebearance was too painful to watch.

3. Let's see - WHO DOESN'T KNOW the deceased President asked her to resign before dying in this TV DC? So far they've all held their "public" guns. THAT"S not going to last!

4. The new President is an Independent - meaning no political Party support within Congress on either side of the aisle - nice plot twist - but one wonders if the writers will play that out realistically, ie, total gridlock for any bills dear to her adminstration that face even a modicum of opposition.

Will see over the next few weeks how this all plays out (will have to catch up - I'll be out of country for a couple of weeks with no IT available).

I intended to watch this show, but I was too tired from driving all day. I had doubts that Geena Davis would make a believable president. I'll try to catch it next week.

*****

They did a hatchet job on "Cold Case" (use to be one of my favorites). Every few minutes the screen would suddenly split into 4 different angles of the same scene. It would stay that way for a couple of minutes then switch back to a single camera angle. It was VERY ANNOYING I'm sure they think this is clever and artistic dry.gif Also, the plot was mediocre wasn't up to the caliber of last season's shows. A new female character has been added to the cast, which so far, hasn't added one wit of intensified interest on my part...but she may bust a move for the guys. I won't go out of my way to watch it.

*****

I had taped the "Medium" and finally took a look at it. It was ok. Her husband is still a dork and the show would fare much better without him in it. Patricia Arquette is an attractive interesting woman and the show is quite believable and holds my interest. I like this show, but I don't like the time slot or her husband. I'll keep watching it, though.

I finally got around to watching the latest episode of 'Cold Case'. I noticed the split screens they use and wonder if this a new trend, since CSI last night used it also a couple of times. I got used to it!

As for the show itself, I only question why they added another character? I mean how many detectives does one need to solve a case? Glad that I am not the one paying the 'taxes' to support that police force! laugh.gif

Okay, you sold me?I'll give it a look next Friday.

Have you ever seen "House"? I didn't like this show at all when I first saw it, but so many friends of mine kept talking about it that I gave it another chance. House's (Hugh Laurie) attitude and personality really turned me off. I just didn't enjoy watching or listening to him, even though the plot line and the medical visuals were outstanding. As I watched again, House's personality didn't bother me as much as before and I focused more on the rest of the story line. I put "House" in the "aquired taste" television catagory.

You're right...but, I think this new character is there for the sex appeal angle. Supposedly her background is fodder for the cooler crowd. I still don't think this is going to add anything of substance to the show?it can only serve to detract from their main character (which was their forte).

What d'y'all think of the "Apprentice"? I know it's not quite realistic, but do you all think that the 'winner' would actually make the best 'executive'?

What do you think of Donald Trump? Does he know what he's talking about? Are his revealed criteria rational?

I wouldn't have lasted a minute on that show . . . but that's beside the point. ... is the person who actually wins the sort of person whom I would want to have as an executive? As a share-holder?

I started watching the "Apprentice" last year and got hooked. I've missed the start of it this season, but I'll be watching if I get a chance. It keeps my interest as it's so unpredictable. The interaction of the team members leaves me wondering "Is this really what goes on in the business world?" The childish backbiting is extremely unprofessional and I have to wonder how they ever achieved any accomplishments in the business field. Most of them seem to have no leadership skills. But, there are some shining, inspirational moments that lend a credence to the show that makes it worth watching, IMO. As I said, I only watched it last season, so as far as the winner goes - although I thought both women were equally qualified in ability, I think Trump picked the right one.

From what I've seen, Trump's revealed criteria has been rational based on his experience. Some of it may not seem rational because he's not basing his opinion only on paperwork. And lets face it, it is a show that's suppose to be entertaining...so, no, I would not want his last pick as my executive.
roserose
Just dropped in to cite: no, I would not want his last pick as my executive. '
ohmy.gif
Carol
Nomarchy, roserose,

Did you see "The Apprentice"? If you did, did you agree with Trump's firing of Kristie? If so, why? And, do you have any winning choices yet?

I thought "The Donald" made a mistake. I would have fired Jennifer M. That's not to say that I think Kristie should win, because I don't...somewhere down the line I'm sure Kristie would have to go...but, in regard to the last project, I have to say that the onus fell on Jennifer. Jennifer was in charge. Jennifer didn't hit the mark on the criteria outlined by the Sony execs. Jennifer really blew the presentation by mispronouncing the name of the movie and not making sure that the word "Zathura" would be visibly pronounced when viewing the float. Getting out the name of the movie (Zathura) was "Priority One" on the Sony execs list and Jennifer failed to do that. Jennifer also failed to see how misaligned the float was on a balanced scale. The float appreared to be assembled hodge-podge with no professional polish. The unbalanced scale gave it an after-thought look instead of a well-organized team effort appearance.

I don't have a male picked yet for a winner...no one has really stood out...although, some good choices there. On the female side, Marshawn is looking like a cool head with great potential, but I'll have to see more of her in action.

Best show on TV!

Sons of Anarchy staying strong for FX with 3.76 million on September 29

http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/09/30/sons-...tember-29/29117

Sons of Anarchy is so good....I can't wait until next week to watch the next episode.

Here are my top five shows.

1. Sons of Anarchy
2. Criminal Minds
3. Fringe
4. Flash Forward
5. CSI NY

Shows with the hottest looking women.

1. Heroes
2. Dollhouse

Somebody on the other thread was pushing Sons of Anarchy, so I watched it once. It's not to bad, but I have to get up to speed. The CSI franchise has always been good. David Caruso having to return to TV makes it that much better.

Criminal Minds is good too.

Sons of Anarchy is so good....I can't wait until next week to watch the next episode.

Here are my top five shows.

1. Sons of Anarchy
2. Criminal Minds
3. Fringe
4. Flash Forward
5. CSI NY

Shows with the hottest looking women.

1. Heroes
2. Dollhouse

I like Heros. I'm looking forward to Stargate Universe, as well as new seasons for my reqular picks. I've looked for a thread that served this purpose in the past and couldn't find it. Now I know what to look for.

I've had two different friends call me at work to tell me that the new Stargate Universe series is "epic." Tonight is the premier. I can't wait to get home...
