Well... okay... this thread is for those who wish to show off... shamelessly... and promote themselves... exceedingly... and stand before the fire of their peers... with jUSt who they really are... and proud of it!...

I am a songwriter... I have been a songwriter all of my life... it is the best thing that I have been... and it has given more back to me than I gave to it... and I gave a lot to it... it is my art, my passion and my life...

I am not a performer... though I do love to perform... for those whom I love...

I pray to my God through my songs... and God seems to talk to me in return, through my songs... helps me to remember what I have learned and to not forget that I still have much to learn...

This song for your consideration is a live performance recorded and mixed jUSt today... for our very own Mizilus... it is a kind of opus for me... I wrote the song(s) many years ago... when in some ways I was a better songwriter than I am now...

I also USed my studio and track mixing abilities to add depth to the recording... and subliminal messages and hyperliminal messages(LOL, the guys at work USed to say that if you played some of my songs backwards, they'd say "waco, waco, remember waco:~)(howwwl:~)...

The music for the song is intense to try to learn... it involves around a dozen different chords in several different keys and in several different beat patterns and several different picking styles... and truly attempts to bring life to the words that the music is written for...

It is actually two different poem songs that when I wrote the music(about a decade ago and a decade after I wrote the poemsongs:~) for them jUSt seemed to go well together... and they have been married ever since...

No Matter the Outcome... and Self Sacrifice(I jUSt hope ya don't have dialup because it's a 8meg file:~)(Howwwl:~)...

Please trUSt me for a minute... nay, for nearly 12 minutes... with your soul... actually listen to the piece and read the words... and let it work its magic on you...

Songs like this one are true magic... combining music and words and ideas... and the spirit of the voice(the voice of the spirit:~)... this ain't no little magic... this is huge magic... of the creating and changing reality magnitude magic... though all songs are such... this is what I consider to be the state or mine art(though in the interests of shortening the song length, the tempo is slightly increased:~)... it is jUSt me and my guitar... no keys(yet:~)... ohh, and my simple free version of MTStudio:~)...

Enjoy...

[Center]No Matter the Outcome

The giving heart rests uneasy…
In the arms of the taker…
Giving to the taker’s needs…
And bargaining for it’s own…

The selfish heart giveth freely…
But demands a price promptly…
The giving heart, becomes the taker…
And the taker becomes the selfish heart…

The wise heart gained his wisdom…
From having been all three…
And thus he ended the cycle…
No matter what the outcome might be…

The foolish heart loved patiently…
And gained a crown in eternity…
Because he loved obediently…
No matter what the outcome might be…

And blessed are those who can know…
Without having to know how or why.

Self Sacrifice

There is no pleasure in self sacrifice…
So don’t do it thinking that someday…
You will gain reprise…

There is no reward for true love…
For anything given with thoughts of return…
Is not true love…

For true love is truly self sacrifice…
It is giving without asking…
There is no compromise…

Now, I’ve listened to many a Christian…
And a lot of them talk of rewards…
That they’ve been given…

Praise the Lord…

And though I believe that it might be so…
They are wrong to believe that they have earned them…
This I know…

Praise the Lord…

For the lord God is the master of love…
And God gives all things knowing…
There may be no return of…

Praise the Lord…

So, if you love, then give it freely…
And if you are loved, you will be given to…
Ungrudgingly…

Praise the Lord…

And if you love with thoughts of return…
Then my friend, you’ve got a hard lesson…
That you will learn…

Praise the Lord…

That true love is truly self sacrifice…
It is giving without asking…
There is no compromise…

Praise the Lord…

(Bridge:~)
And when he died upon the tree…
He revealed the nature of true love…
To you and me…

Ohh sha la la na…

I tell you this, the answer of all answers…
That all things… all things...
are a matter of the heart…

Ohh sha la la na…
Praise the Lord.

The cost of fame!

The New Orleans Saints' Coach had put together the perfect team for the
Saints. The only thing that was missing was a good quarterback. He had
scouted all the colleges and even the Canadian and European Leagues, but he
couldn't find a ringer who could ensure a Super Bowl win.

Then one night while watching CNN he saw a war-zone scene in Afghanistan.
In one corner of the background, he spotted a young Afghan Muslim soldier
with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand-grenade straight into a 15th
story window 100 yards away. KABOOM! He threw another hand-grenade 75 yards
away, right into a chimney. KA-BLOOEY! Then he threw another at a passing
car going 90 mph. BULLS-EYE! "I've got to get this guy!" Coach said to
himself. "He has the perfect arm!"

So, he brings him to the United States and teaches him the great game of
football. And the Saints go on to win the Super Bowl. The young Afghan is
hailed as the great hero of football, and when the coach asks him what he
wants, all the young man wants is to call his mother.

"Mom," he says into the phone, "I just won the Super Bowl!" "I don't want
to talk to you," the old Muslim woman says. "You deserted us. You are not my
son!"

"I don't think you understand, Mother," the young man pleads. "I've won the
greatest sporting event in the world. I'm here among thousands of my
adoring fans."

"No! Let me tell you!" his mother retorts. "At this very moment, there are
gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two
brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and I have to
keep your sister in the house so she doesn't get raped!" The old lady
pauses, and then tearfully says, "I will never forgive you for making us
move to New Orleans!"

I got "Honorable Mention" again... this time for the song "Money"...

http://www.songoftheyear.com/winners/2006/...22006homent.htm

I've entered 3 times and twice got "Honorable Mention" and once "Runner Up"... smile.gif

I keep on trying... rolleyes.gif smile.gif

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on which song I should submit for this months contest... unsure.gif

Money

Welcome my friend to our establishment...
I hope you brought your initial investment...
Now, jUSt sign on the dotted line...
and everything will be jUSt fine...
And let's make one thing clear...
If you want more, then you'll pay here...

So, you wanna know more about money...
the first lesson is that nothing is free...
Now, for jUSt a little bit more...
I can get you in on the ground floor...
I recommend that you don't hesitate...
the Fed's raising the percentage rate...

Good, now you're ready for the next lesson...
Right and wrong are divined on the bottom line...
and in order to get your return...
you've got to have money to burn...
And now I have to endorse...
that you take the "Advanced Course"...

Good, now you're ready for the final lesson...
Let's have a look at your equitable position...
Well, according to your account...
your balance is a negative amount...
You've exceeded your credit line...
and now, your interests are mine...

And no one buys that old line...
"The root of all evil"...
Now, go forth and bring me more...
and as for that other God...
don't let it bother you at all...
Heaven and Hell...
Ohh well...

Well, now it appears that you're morally bankrupt...
You didn't buy into that old fable...
You say that you believe...
that God is strong and able...
but the bottom line is who do you believe...
puts the food on your table...

And so, you wanna know more about money...
the first lesson is that nothing is free...
and in order to get your return...
you've got to have money to burn...
and burn... and burn...
Now, you're in hell...
Ohh well...

And no one buys that old line...
"The root of all evil"...
Now, go forth and bring me more...
and as for that other God...
don't let it bother you at all...
Heaven and Hell...
Ohh well.

It's all good. Sometimes the difference between winner and runner up is just a coin toss by an unsure judge.

It's all subjective. I won a free hotel weekend in a karaoke contest once and thought I was hot stuff. Tried it again and didn't even make the top three. Never tried it again, though it was basically the same people judging. (quit drinking, so I didn't have that stage fright reducer either)

I was thinking about submitting "Alla Sha La Na" for this months competition...

Alla Sha La Na

Alla sha la nadle un da
Alla sha la na...
Alla sha la nadle un da...
Hallelujah...

And though a man hath the courage...
to face all hell and earth...
But he hath not the courage...
to face the truth...
Then he hath not the courage...
to face the kingdom of heaven...

And all the people sing...
Alla sha la nadle un da
Alla sha la na...
Alla sha la nadle un da...
Hallelujah...

And though a man hath the strength...
to lift up his whole house...
But he hath not the strength...
to bear the sins of the world...
Then he hath not the strength...
to lift himself to heaven...

And who among US can be saved, my friends...
Who among US can be saved my friends...
Except by the strength borne of the blood...
Of the Christ...

And all the people sing...
Alla sha la nadle un da
Alla sha la na...
Alla sha la nadle un da...
Hallelujah...

And though a man hath the love...
Of all his family...
But he hath no love...
For his enemy...
Then he hath not enough love...
To love God enough...

And all the people still sing...
Alla sha la nadle un da
Alla sha la na...
Alla sha la nadle un da...
Hallelujah...

And though a man hath the courage...
To face all hell and earth...
And though a man hath the strength...
To lift up his whole house...
And though a man hath the love...
Of all his family...

Who among US can be saved, my friends...
Who among US can be saved my friends...
Except when these things are borne of the blood...
Of the Christ...

And all the people sing...
Alla sha la nadle un da
Alla sha la na...
Alla sha la nadle un da...
Hallelujah...

Alla sha la nadle un da
Alla sha la na...
Alla sha la nadle un da...
Hallelujah...

I mUSt admit that I had high hopes for "How long do angels live"... and I was a bit disappointed because I actually do think the song is worthy... it did get "Runner Up" though...

Did Ah-ha's Take on Me. I think my voice is a bit lower now so I'm not sure I can hit the first high.

I got one of those Singing Coach programs so you can see if you can hit the note and hold it at the right pitch right on your computer. I recommend the program if you ever want to worry about perfect vocals.

We did get the biggest labor dispute settlement in US history... heh... I bring that up only because it seems to be something that would mean something to someone like you... it's not to say that we "won" or anything like that... we "lost" in a lot of ways... but indeed, we did "win" other less recognized victories...

We won our dignity... we stood up and said "enough"... and stood behind it...

We won our honour... many of US did it not for our own circumstance, but those of our fellow workers...

We won our valor... we stood up and stayed up against and through the most un-labor friendly of administrations and times...

We won our Union... our Union yet survives... and that was our enemies biggest goal... and our biggest victory... for ourselves and for our children. smile.gif
