Yep. Bud Cramer.

He's had it made getting elected. A few years ago he seemed to be headed the wrong way so we ran a strong repug against him and he almost got beat. He came back into line easily after that.

YES

Wasn't he awesome. Probably the only one on the stage that can whip up on the Republicans.

One thing that I don't think the Democratic candidates have realized - Illegal Immigration is at a boiling point in this country. Look what happened to McCain and Spitzer. HC also took a hit. Tonight Obama and Richardson both said they had encouraged it in their states. HC has changed her stand so many times it's not believable. That leaves Kucinich, Biden, Dodd, and Edwards. Out of that group, the only one I feel safe with at this point in our various wars would be Biden.

Spitzer drops plan to issue driving licenses to illegal immigrants
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 11/14/07
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Post Comment
WASHINGTON — New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer said today he was abandoning a plan to issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, but said that the federal government had "lost control'' of its borders and left states to deal with the consequences.

"I have concluded that New York state cannot successfully address this problem on its own,'' Spitzer said at a news conference, flanked by members of the state's Congressional delegation.

Spitzer said overwhelming public opposition led to his decision.

The governor introduced the plan with the goal of increased security, safer roads and an opportunity to bring immigrants "out of the shadows.'' Opponents charged Spitzer would make it easier for would-be terrorists to get identification, and make the country less safe. Many New Yorkers agreed with them.

Immigration Could be Democrats Achilles Heel in 2008
"In a result that few expected, Republican Jim Ogonowski, a retired U.S. Airforce officer, came within a few percentage points (51% to 45%) of defeating Democrat Niki Tsongas, widow of revered Massachusetts Sen. and 1992 Democratic presidential hopeful Paul Tsongas. Pundits and pols agree that Ogonowski’s stronger-than-thought-possible showing was directly related to his sharp difference with Tsongas on the issue of illegal immigration -- particularly whether illegal immigrants should have driver’s licenses," says Mac Johnson. "Within days of the Bay State race, others on the national scene began to recognize that illegal immigration is a potent issue for Republicans that presents a great danger to the supposedly rosy Democratic prospects for ’08. As Rep. Rahm Emmanuel (D.-Ill.), a past chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, told the Washington Post: 'The issue has real implications for the country. It captures all the American people’s anger and frustration, not only with immigration but with the economy.'"

I wonder if there will be any more 'free thinking Americans' who will join our opinion. I can only hope.

They have to remember the polling numbers and answer accordingly. Sometimes I wonder if Hillary wouldn't have done a lot better in the primary polling just admitting she's a lefty and going with it. She may not live to take advantage of her triangulating.

A VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT = A VOTE FOR AMNESTY!
Posted by: American Me on November 1, 2007 12:54 PM

The presidential candidate who speaks up for the American public and against illegal immigration in all ways, is the one who will be elected. We need someone with a backbone who will stand up to Mexico and say, "no mas," then start enforcing laws that state they shouldn't be here at all. Right now, Bush is on TV repeating his thoughts on the Iraq war and how we should fight for the people of that country to have democracy. Why is there never a word uttered about our own war here at home? He has stayed silent while every day we have thousand who sneak into our nation. The reward for turning a blind eye must be truly great - greater than an oath of office, a love of country and a leader to the people of the USA, not Mexico!

Sounds like a plan. For economic disaster and fascism.

WOLF TURNS 'LAMB'; CLINTON CAMPAIGN
SAYS CNN HOST 'OUTSTANDING'

CNN debate moderator Wolf Blitzer did an 'outstanding' job in Vegas,
a senior adviser to the Hillary campaign said early Friday. 'He was
outstanding, and did not gang up like Russert did in Philadelphia. He
avoided the personal attacks, remained professional and ran the
best debate so far. Voters were the big winners last night.'

A rival campaign insider charges: 'Wolf turned into a lamb.
No follow-up question on Clinton's huge flip on drivers licenses?'

Given the relative ease of getting bogus IDs that allow 1 to get drivers licenses, it is quite a problem with no easy solutions.

That said the Real ID Act was passed by Congress and signed by Bush in '05. Its intent is to standardize drivers licenses and state ID cards. DHS is supposed to enact it.

Earlier this year, DHS announced it would not be in force until Dec of '09.

QUOTE
Sen. Hillary Clinton stepped into the ring Thursday in this city known for prize fights, successfully beating back an onslaught of punches thrown from the left and right as her opponents sought to rattle the front-runner seven weeks before the Iowa caucuses.

Clinton, who entered this Democratic debate vulnerable following a lackluster performance two weeks ago, came out fighting in the first round.

For the New York Democrat, a good defense was a strong offense, and she sought to silence her critics who stood just feet away.

"I don't mind taking hits on my record, on issues," she said. "But when somebody starts throwing mud, at least we can hope that it's both accurate and not right out of the Republican playbook."

Sen. Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards each tried to set the tone early when asked to explain their criticisms of Clinton, such as their charges that she is unwilling to answer difficult questions. See how CNN's political team rated the debaters »

"Sen. Clinton, I think, is a capable politician, and I think that she has run a terrific campaign," Obama said. "But what the American people are looking for right now is straight answers to tough questions, and that is not what we've seen out of Sen. Clinton on a host of issues, on the issue of drivers' licenses for illegal immigrants."

Edwards knocked Clinton for her stance on Iraq and Social Security and tried to hammer home his claim that she is part of the problem in Washington. Watch rivals, audience focus attention on front-runner »

"The most important issue is she says she will bring change to Washington, while she continues to defend a system that does not work, that is broken, that is rigged and is corrupted against the interest of most Americans and corrupted for a very small, very powerful, very well-financed group," he said.

In the lead-up to the debate, Clinton's campaign had accused the other contenders -- the "all boys club" -- of "piling on" and attacking her. Even though the senator's husband, former President Bill Clinton, had echoed this same sentiment, she denied it was a calculated attempt to play the "gender card."

"I understand very well that people are not attacking me because I'm a woman," she said. "They're attacking me because I'm ahead."...

A plus for a prez - not so sure it's a plus for a candidate.

In recent years, running against Washington has been the MO. The Outsider approach. Even in state elections - note Ventura.

Perhaps that MO is fading. Not so sure tho.

I watched the last 40 minutes or so of that debate and it was pretty much SOS/SOP in my book. Daimonds or pearls was probably the highlight.

I watched about five minutes.

Crissie Dodd was chatting about how wonderful globalization was and then pretended to be angry about China's import of lead-tainted paint and poisonous toothpaste and whatnot and how Bush should have shut China's imports down.

Then Obama went on a lecture about nothing, repeating nothing and saying nothing.

Then Joey Biden, the Democrats' useless idiot, exploded on how he can't believe he's standing with such imcompetent idiots when all that needs to be done is work with the WTO and shut China down.

Have you heard Karl Rove is being hired by Newsweek for election commentary?

So much for Newsweek and NBC. They can go straight to hell with Karl.

Ok. We need to think of a cute alternate title for Newsweek and NBC.

Sorta like the Faux News take and Fox News.

I'm thinking Neoconsweek and Neocon Broadcasting Company.

What say you?

fark Faux News!!

fark Neoconsweek!!

fark Neocon Broadcasting Company!!

fark 'em!!

That's presuming illegal aliens who may chance voting vote differently from yourself.

It's an interesting spin, but clearly, IMHO, one is more clearly disenfranchised if one is prevented from voting, than one is by assuming that someone who may not be eligible to vote may vote differently than yourself. There is no question that if you are prevented from voting you are disenfranchised. It is unclear if you are disenfranchised if some who is ineligible votes. It could just as easily mean that your own vote was enhanced.

Proof that you will accept votes of illegals, if they vote for the same candidates and issues that you do.
You disgust me.

I watched about five minutes.

1.*** Crissie Dodd was chatting about how wonderful globalization was and then pretended to be angry about China's import of lead-tainted paint and poisonous toothpaste and whatnot and how Bush should have shut China's imports down.

2. *** Then Obama went on a lecture about nothing, repeating nothing and saying nothing.

3.*** Then Joey Biden, the Democrats' useless idiot, exploded on how he can't believe he's standing with such imcompetent idiots when all that needs to be done is work with the WTO and shut China down.

1. That (Dodd) is double talk, imho. I get so very tired of these people, both Dems & Repubs thinking we are so stupid that we can't figure out globalization is extremely bad for America. It's bad enough to be (the only word I can think of is not appropriate for use by a little old lady) but to have them take us for complete idiots is infuriating. Somebody should have shut down Chinese imports; are we so corrupt that we can't do that when little kids are dying?.

2. Up until last night I was leaning toward Obama. What I cannot understand with most of these Democrat candidates is there blindness to United States Law. In a country that prides its self on 'Rule of Law' how can they tolorate ANY action that does not follow that. As far as HC defending Spitzer's decision to give Illegals drivers license (and we can add Richardson and Obama to that group) --- sorry -- is that like saying someone killed someone but we understand why they did it so they should be allowed to do it. Even her explanation stinks to high heaven. WHY would ALL illegals give up their anonymity, especially those who are terrorists or criminals. Who cares about the law abiding bunch. They're not going to cause any trouble anyway. Just leave them be until we can figure out a better way. But this is the bunch they want to have drivers license so they can drive to work, drive taxi's, delivery and work trucks, etc. It's not about knowing who they are - it's about being able to get those 'who they KNOW who they are' most prepared to do the job Big Business wants them to do. It's when they double talk about needing to know who people are that drives me crazy. If ya wanted to do that, maybe ya should have put a bunch of military on our border twenty years ago and THEN WE WOULD KNOW WHO WAS HERE. DUH.

I was not impressed with Obama.

3. Then Joey Biden, the Democrats' useless idiot, exploded on how he can't believe he's standing with such imcompetent idiots when all that needs to be done is work with the WTO and shut China down.
I don't have any problem with that. Is that NOT perfectly true?? Why do you think it is that merchandise that has been deemed dangerous is still on store shelves?

More and more I'm thinking the only solution is 'MADE IN AMERICA' - 'SOLD IN AMERICA' - USED IN AMERICA. smile.gif

While local elections may be over- the 2008 presidential race is only just beginning.

A poll released yesterday shows New York Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton has more support in Southern Atlantic states than all of her Democratic presidential rivals combined. Additionally, the Associated Press reports Clinton has the support of 45 adult voters in the region. Compare that to the 17 percent who said they’d vote for Illinois Senator Barack Obama and 11 percent who support North Carolina’s John Edwards.

The poll, conducted by Elon University, found that only 19 percent of Democratic voters are undecided in the 2008 White House race. 1,374 adults in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia were surveyed over the past two weeks.

The Associated Press reports Rudy Giuliani leads Republicans with 25 percent voter support. He’s followed by Fred Thompson with 16 percent and Mitt Romney with 12 percent. Nearly 20 percent of Republican voters are undecided.

36 percent of the poll’s respondents favor Democrats while 35 percent favor Republicans. Nearly 25 percent of voters are undecided as to which party they’ll support next year.

83 percent of voters say a candidate’s view on the Iraq war will directly influence their vote. Other concerns expressed by voters in the survey are the economy, terrorism and security, healthcare costs and immigration.

Huh? I've never liked her. she would be a terrible candidate. I've always thought she was a beotch.

Davis, I can't say I disagree with you. I was wondering a day or so ago if there is anyone on this board that is FOR her. I haven't heard anyone say much good - quite the contrary. Which makes me really wonder if her approval rating is so high why, in all the people here, don't we see that. Could the polls be rigged. NO! surely not... unsure.gif unsure.gif

Bay, they don't think it's fair that Republicans should purge and scam people out of their right to vote!!

HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SAID!!!!????

You're so funny.

I was not impressed with the debate. Blitzer let Richardson and Clinton run on and on about nothing, but when Biden was trying to give us GOOD INFORMATION about world affairs he cut him off in what seemed to me about half the time they allocated to the other two. Richardson is a windbag, imho.

Let's see, that narrows it to Edwards and Biden. Probably Biden. smile.gif

Davis, don't be so hard on me. What makes you think I don't think the same thing about Republicans?? But we WERE talking about Democrats.

And good advice should be followed ...... by everyone. What is in YOUR ears that you're not hearing me say that America is in trouble. It doesn't matter which party you pick. We'll have to be very careful. Somewhere in all this mess, surely there is one who is somewhat honest. I'm hoping that might be Biden or Huckabee - I'm still listening.

I'm not totally sure we're on the same track here. When I said....
What I cannot understand with most of these Democrat candidates is there blindness to United States Law. In a country that prides its self on 'Rule of Law' how can they tolorate ANY action that does not follow that.
I had reference to Clinton, Obama, Richardson, Giuliani, McCain and possibly others ignoring the fact that there are twelve million Illegals in this country and saying let's give them drivers license, education, health care, KNOWING they are illegal. If you listen to the drumbeat in the boonies, in New York, across this land the people are mad. The Presidential Candidates, with the exception of a few, are either so well insulated from that fact, or they just plain don't give a darn.

I'm not in ANY way thinking, saying, advocating that legal citizens should not be able to vote, and am totally against anyone who would purge and scam people out of their right to vote!!

I am still researching what our founding fathers said about voting. Time is my enemy. So much to do - so little time smile.gif
