While the koolaid drinking libs drown in their bush bashing, conservatives are planning the next win.

I think a good combo for victory against Hillary could be:

Rice & Guiliani

or Rice & Leiberman

Or Guiliani and Leiberman

If you can get past bashing bush your comments are welcome

Um, jt. Lieberman is a democrat. smile.gif

He's one of my senators. He's very pro-Israel. I don't think that one issue will make a Republican out of him. I doubt you'd care for his stance on any other political issue.

You know what I think the country needs. A genuine populist. I like John Edwards, but if you could find a Republican populist, I'd consider voting for him.

The 'secret' is that George W Bush is NOT running for President. The Dems are focusing their time, eneregy and strategy on beating him in the next Presidential election and he's not even running. laugh.gif

I mentioned on another thread that I consider John Kasick a good choice for President. But the best choices often don't make it to the top. The Dems continue their race to the bottom by selecting their losers as candidates so unless there is some shaking world event, illegal and wholesale cheating on election day, the Dems will lose again.

Rice has a spine, which is good. Not sure I want to see her as president though.

Guiliani wouldn't be a bad choice. Leiberman as his VP (even though he Democrat) could be a good pair. Frankly I think that would also be an interesting way of thowing some balance into the mix as well.

I think anyone against Shillary would have a solid chance of victory in 2008 including Jeb Bush.

I'm sticking with my guess that George Alllen will be the nominee, as he has behind the scenes backing from somewhere, and did very well in the southern straw poll, even though I barely ever heard of or from him.

Personally I like Rice, and the demographics of running a black woman are advantageous.

Giuliani has hero status after 9-11, but he's too socially liberal for Reps to nominate, maybe as VP.

Exactly the way you Repubs are focusing your "their time, eneregy and strategy" on beating Hillary Clinton? She hasn't said she was running for anything aside from the U.S. Senate. laugh.gif

At this point I'm sure the Democrats are happy to let the Republicans do their "Hillary-bashing" and scare mongering to mask the fact that they don't really have any leaders that haven't been indicted for corruption, or caught lying about important issues like war, fiscal responsibility, and actual homeland secuity.

Oh, keep trying to abolish social security. It really helps the Democrats when the Republicans beat themselves up like that. smile.gif

A bi-partisan ticket might be a good thing since the country is so divided.

Anyone but Hillary. Like I said before... any woman who doesn't have enough brains to divorce her cheating husband sure as hell shouldn't be president. wink.gif

Giuliani would be great as far as I'm concerned. You can't have everything, and I can't see him doing anything related to the 2nd ammendment anyway.

As much as the media would like Giuliani before the primaries, just wait and see what happens if he goes up against a Gore or Kerry.

Hillary doesn't seem to have a lot of support except with people who want to stick a fork in the Rep's eye. Too many negatives otherwise.

the foaming at the mouth left has been silent on leibermans support for the war. Your correct leiberman is a democrat, so is zell miller.

Idealistic Id like to see zell miller run on a republican ticket..It would be a helluva campaign. And yes there would be some democrat/liberal bashing with him on the ticket. something that was sorely missed in the 2004 campaign and currently as well from this administration

You have got to be kidiing.

Bush, civil? Yeah, riiiiight. Karl Rove and Bush are inseperable. What Rove does, Bush gets credit and blame for. They are both tyrants.

Here's a tip for ya artie. The goal is to make Republicans all powerful and everyone else beholden unto them. They want absolute dominance in EVERY PART OF OUR LIVES. No limits, no checks and balances, period. What they say, goes.

And I'll tell you, that isn't even close to right or anywhere near "patriotic".

They consider Lieberman to be a whacked-out, right-wing neo-con Jew farking douchebag.

I hate to say it, but there are Republicans that are just as far out on the other end as some Liberals. The irony is that they fail to see that extremism really isn't a good place to be, no matter which end you're on.

I dont think the country is as divided as the libs want us to believe. no bumper sticker overkill, people not really complaining about national politics. We may have different opinions, but cspan sucks is the only place where there is any engaging debate on politics and religion.

most elections are not landslides they have been fairly even. Bush I/Clinton/Perot in '92 was no majority.gore/bush, bush/kerry nixon kennedy, truman/dewey etc.

The libs want to yack about the country being divided, we are nowhere near the civil war and vietnam, but they like to ignore historyand say we really divided, I dont see it.

People are more concerned with their everyday lives then sitting around blaming Boosh for their plight, or pissing and moaning about cheney, rove and halliburton.

That's how I see it. When democrats wanted to limit the Second Amendment I was pissed at them and voted for those who would uphold it, usually Republicans. Now I feel the Republicans want to limit or scrap the rest of the Constitution in the name of security.

Now I'm even more pissed at them than I was at the Democrats.

Anybody else besides hillary for the dems?

At this point in time....hard to find many 'qualified' Democratic candidates. Sorta like looking for snowballs in hell.

Forget the likes of Gore, Shillary, Dean, Kerry, Feingold

Short list (a very short list) that would get my attention....would be

Lieberman
Bill Richardson

However, the far-left would disapprove of either one....thus another easy victory for the GOP in 2008.

I notice not many libs hang here long and discuss this important upcoming election.

They cant stray far from the Bush bashing forums.

Its like a magnet that draws them in.

Richardson not really well known as Lieberman. Lieberman would be a good pick for the dems but they will never do it......the mizilus' and davis' of the party would foam at the mouth

Rice & Guiliani or Rice & Leiberman Or Guiliani and Leiberman

If you can get past bashing bush your comments are welcome

Thank you pathetic JT for starting this subject.

I'm a little confused with your "picks". I take it this is a Republican ticket. Do you think Leiberman will run as a Republican? Could be - who knows!

There are a LOT of Republicans and Democrats I would pick before your choices, but ya' sure have the right to like whoever you like. unsure.gif

I mentioned on another thread that I consider John Kasick a good choice for President.

Funny thing is, I think it must have been in the 2006 election, John Kasick ran an internet poll, asking voters if he should run for president. I went on line to vote that he should. He should definitely be recruited as a secretary of something, regardless of which party gets in.

Tom Tancredo is placing well in the Freeper straw poll (linked below). He's beating Guiliani, Gingrich, Pence, McCain, Santorum, Romney, and Frist. This comes just a week after he basically beat that same list of in straw poll held at CPAC and a few months after he placed second in a straw poll at a Michigan GOP convention.

Okay, so I'm a bit controversial but....!! I've got to think about this some more but for the moment...
Republican - Chuck Hagel, Gingrich,
Democrat - Gore, Tancredo, Feingold,
Independent - Lou Dobbs, Gary Hart,

You could run Lou Dobbs and Pat Buchanan together, they're both protectionists, but I'm not sure where Dobbs comes in on other issues.

Gore and Feingold are both pretty far left, but that's where the Dems have been lately. (and you can see what it's done for them)

Gingrich has a lot of baggage. Winning the house for the Reps has made him a marked man. Part of the reason Senators don't run well is that they have to take stands on too many issues and each stand cuts the number of people that will vote for you. It's hard to "nuance" things once you've voted up or down on them.

I like Joe Biden; just think he is too pro-war for me. Although it may take someone like Biden to get us out of Iraq with honor. I think 2008 is going to hinge on Illegal Immigration and the war. I think the winner will have to be against both those things to get elected. The natives are getting riled.

I sure hope so. If you notice I like a few Republicans, a few Democrats, and a few Independents. It depends on where they stand on the issues I'm passionate about. Having said that I just have to add that what has happened to my country in the last few years makes me sick. They were complaining that the Media wasn't telling enough of the good things about Iraq. I could really care less about Iraq. We should have been fixing the levys in Louisiana; closing our borders, fixing some highways instead of trying to bring democracy to a part of the world who will never understand our meaning of democracy. We've turned practically every country in the world against us and we are less safe in almost every way and spent a fortune in the process. There was a picture in my paper today

***"a car, shown Thursday, that floated in the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina came to rest on top of another car in Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. Nearly seven months after Katrina, the streets of New Orleans are still strewn with thousands of abandoned cars". ***

We can't even take care of our problems here, what on earth makes us think we have any business meddling anywhere else. There's a song that goes something like "You can't run your own life, I'll be d___ if you'll run mine'.

Not to be all doom and gloom, but actually a terrorist attack is not the worst of my fears. If we (thought we) won the cold war by breaking Russia economically could that happen to us?? And why are we selling off our country - quite literally - piece by piece? unsure.gif

The Russians lost the cold was from being isolationist and expansionist at the same time. They didn't allow outsiders to invest IN Russia, but they did spend money exporting their ideology overseas.

Part of what made the US great was trading with others, as well as allowing others to INVEST in the US. They help build America, and our companies create jobs around the world and bring much of the profit back to the US.
