Earlier I posted some information about metavid, I site which aims to Open Source the C-SPAN archive. Today I revisit the metavid site and call for you input.

I would like to invite you to check out the metavid site and some of the interesting clips wink.gif

The creation of the metavid site is comparable to the creation of the c-span suck community forms; Faced with the restriction use on c-span footage (you cant post it online, it disappears from c-span after two weeks, and has to be purchased at expensive prices where it still can't be used online) we decided to make our own archive.

Myself and another graduate student have been working on intellectual property issues around the use of C-SPAN footage. We have worked with the university IP lawyers, to enable a permanent and freely reusable archive of government produced footage as broadcasted on c-span available on metavid site.

Another topic in this form is “how we can improve C-SPAN”; the metavid project aims to open up improvements by being entirely open source.

I would be interested in hearing your impression of the site, suggestions about how the site might be improved to better fit your usage scenario, and whether you could picture using this archive in future postings.

And finally is having source audio/video records of legislative proceedings freely available for reuse important to you and why?

You've obviously done a lot of work, but I just barely figured out how to operate C-Span's multitude of links and streams. I'm afraid there's too much information out there, rather than not enough.

My eyes start to glaze over. The best thing I can say is aim for simplicity and user-Friendliness.
