The Bears don't have one to sell.
Davis 2.0
But if we traded him he'd turn into Joe Namath.
Arturo_Vandelay
Protection is job 1. Pissed me off Oakland drafted a QB and they have nobody to protect him. Takes 3-5 years to develop a QB. Have a great line and any good one looks like Broadway Joe.

Now just when Russell is getting good he'll be demanding a new even BIGGER contract, which will take all the money they could have bought a better line with.
Davis 2.0
Artie, look at this picture of Richard Dent crushing Marino. You can see the expected pain on his face. lol.

I couldn't link the pic itself, it's got one of those crazy dynamic image tag or vid or something.

Dent selected as a Hall of Fame finalist

I saw that when it happened. I don't want to see it again.

One of the worst I ever saw for pure dramatic effect. No reason to show it in slow motion. ohmy.gif

Tomlinson confirms torn groin tendon, says status is doubtful

Associated Press

SAN DIEGO -- Running back LaDainian Tomlinson confirmed Wednesday that he has a torn tendon in his groin and listed himself as doubtful for the San Diego Chargers' AFC Divisional Playoff Game at Pittsburgh on Sunday.

"It's definitely torn," Tomlinson said after sitting out Wednesday's practice. "I can't really elaborate on it because I don't want to give too much information away."

Tomlinson was hurt during a 52-21 rout of the Denver Broncos in the Dec. 28 regular-season finale as the Chargers clinched the AFC West title. The team has listed him as having a strained groin.

"If it was a strain, I'd be able to play with it, trust me," Tomlinson said. "A lot of guys have strains."
Chargers at Steelers

Reports surfaced before Saturday's wild-card victory over the Indianapolis Colts that Tomlinson detached a tendon that connects one of his groin muscles to his pubic bone.

Tomlinson started against the Colts but came out after scoring on a 3-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. With Darren Sproles filling in, the Chargers won 23-17 in overtime.

Tomlinson said this injury has been tougher than any he has ever had during his eight-year NFL career.

"It feels like something is tearing away from my leg. That's how I know that it's messed up because before, when I've had groin injuries, I haven't felt that," Tomlinson said. "Whenever you feel a popping or like it's tearing, that's usually not good."

NFL teams don't give an injured player's status until Friday. But Tomlinson said his status is doubtful, meaning there's a 75 percent chance he won't play against the Steelers.

"That's pretty much what I feel like I'm at," Tomlinson said.

Has he been ruled out of the game?

"No. Not yet," he added.

If the Chargers keep winning, there might be a chance Tomlinson could return.

"I think it's possible," he said. "I'm never going to rule it out. I'll have to start to feel much better, though."

Tomlinson said there's a chance he could make the injury worse if he continued to play "and do some of the things I have to do. Who knows how much? Once again, I don't even know if it's going to require surgery."

Tomlinson had a 13-yard gain on the first play from scrimmage Saturday night, but he said his leg was dragging.

"That's why I said earlier that that game was just all pure determination of trying to just push it and trying to do as much as I could and go. But it was clear from the first carry that I couldn't pick my leg up and explode and it did feel like it was dragging."

While happy with the team's success, Tomlinson said it's frustrating dealing with another injury in the playoffs. Last season, he sprained his left knee in a divisional game against the Colts, then aggravated it and missed the final three and a half quarters of the AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots.

"I don't think anybody can know the frustration, to be honest with you," Tomlinson said. "It's tough dealing with it. I really sometimes just want to go home and just stay at home and lock myself up and not even go into public, just because all my life, all I've ever wanted to do is play football and, you know, win a championship. And to feel so helpless, to be at this point where we have a chance to do it and again, I can't do anything about it, I can't play, it's like I'm being punished for something. It's tough to deal with."

Limited early during the season by a toe injury, Tomlinson gained a career-low 1,110 yards this season.

Props to Arizona!

Kept it from being a "Pennsylvania Superbowl".

NFC Champs!!!

Arturo_Vandelay
Amazing. I went to tennis at the half, feeling pretty good about their chances. One of the guys came late and reported Philly was up by one but AZ was driving. Didn't find out who won til I got to the car. Got to see the final bit on my hard drive when I got home. Not bad under pressure at the end. The young Bidwell does want to win, and winning starts from the top.
Davis 2.0
Good for them. I like seeing an underdog succeed. But I'll still root for the Steelers in the Superbowl.
Brian_Lambchops
I'm betting Steelers 28-17. At least one TD made or set up by defense.
Human Ills
I'll take the Cards. 27-17
Bob_K
Steelers, 24-21.

Is anyone else aware that this is some kind of alternate timeline in the space/time continuum?

In the real timeline, there is no such team as the Arizona Cardinals.

I think we veared off the real timeline sometime in the early 80's... perhaps it was that Delorean fellow and his car that did it.

It is probably of some great signifigance that this football team, which is only a manifestation of this alternate timeline, are now going to the Super Bowl... probably some kind of nexus in the continuum.

This should be interesting.

That's how Obama came to be our next president.

The Cardinals Effect.

But the Cards are on a roll..

As an Eagles fan I have to go for the Cards. I think it will be close though.
Arturo_Vandelay
The betting site I use for pool info says Pitt by 7, with an over under of 46.5. That means Steelers 27-20 would be my best guess.
Davis 2.0
Steelers by 10.

100 yard interception return. Impressive.

Good call.

Cards need to use this season as a starting point, not a finishing one. For a franchise that never cared about winning I worry they will get cheap again and this will be as good as it gets. I have hope with the son taking over the business, and the new stadium.

The off season will tell, not the second half.

First drive will probably tell the tale. Anything less than a TD is probably taps.

When I gave up on the game it got closer. You should thank me. I assume you're for the home team even if you are really an Oakland Raiders fan.
Arturo_Vandelay
Had to pop on. Scored too fast. My buddy is a huge Steeler fan and I'm gonna feel really bad for him if they lose. Turns out to be a great game, but I think AZ would have been better with a sustained drive.

AC/DC playing before the safety. smile.gif

Just for davis.

Turned out to be a good game. Somebody is going to be sad when it's over. Who knows, maybe overtime.

Good call. Think I'll watch the end. See you later.
Davis 2.0
That was a nail biter.
Arturo_Vandelay
The downside is I'll have to hear about six championships forever. I don't know if it's better than the whining if the Steelers had lost.
Davis 2.0
The Card fans have to be reeling. Ouch.
Arturo_Vandelay
I don't know any Cards fans, but I generally figure they're far ahead of what they REALLY expected. If they've really studied the history of the team they ought to be thrilled. Top to bottom effort. We'll see if it lasts when it's time to spend the money. They are WAY under the cap and could prove their desire to win by spending MORE and not less.
Davis 2.0
I think the refs gave the Cards a touchdown when they shouldn't have. The ball actually touched the ground on one reception in the end zone.
hunin
It appeared to me that Warner’s arm was in forward motion in that last 4th quarter play that became a "fumble". The play should have forced an automatic review. It was an incomplete pass methinks.
Arturo_Vandelay
I think the final score was about indicative of the day. Cards could well have won, a big step up for them.
Davis 2.0
Warner threw for 374 yards. Unreal.
beasty
Having to pass usually means you lose. Did in this case. If they had eaten some clock on that last drive they might have won.
Davis 2.0
They put it on Warner's arm. 33 yards rushing didn't cut it. But then again the Steelers only had 58 yards rushing.
beasty
The QBs were pretty good. That last toss to Ward was just about perfect.
Davis 2.0
Santonio Holmes and the two toe drag was excellent. And the pass couldn't be intercepted.
Human Ills
I was very impressed by the Steelers offense. They would not have won without a good showing by Ben and co.
The defense lived up to the billing.
Hondo
They wouldnt have won without a defender rumling 100 yards for a TD. That was the game, a 14 point swing. I love good defense. The QBs get the glory, but defense wins championships.
Davis 2.0
It was a good game. Kept me on the edge of my seat.
Arturo_Vandelay
I got home in time to see the arrival the the Cards on TV. I think they did great, so I'm glad folks showed up to welcome them. They really played well enough to win, so there's no dishonor. They did better than I did at tennis. Lost 6-0 first set, but came back to get 4 games in the second. Good opponent though.

Now I gotta get a shower.
Davis 2.0
Funny how second place is frowned upon. They did good, came back and almost won. It took some very, very good football to overcome that.
