White House Green Jobs Adviser: Republicans Are 'As*holes'

Fox News, by Staff

Van Jones, the Obama administration's ''green jobs''' adviser, told a group of listeners earlier in the year that the reason Republicans are stonewalling the president is because they're ''a**holes.'' Jones' remarks were recorded in a video from February that was posted to YouTube. He made the remark during an energy lecture in Berkeley, Calif., after a woman in the audience asked him why President Obama and congressional Democrats were having trouble moving legislation -- even

Rep. Rangel must step aside as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Thursday, September 3, 2009

The Washington Post
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...0203082_pf.html

FOR POLITICIANS with major bad news to release or to make public, there's no time like the dead of August to do it. The thinking goes that the public won't remember a thing come September. We hope Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.) will have no such luck. His belated revelation of previously unreported income, property and bank accounts demands that he step aside as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Mr. Rangel's amended financial disclosure form, which exposes omissions from his 2002 through 2006 records, is a treasure trove of outrage. He neglected to report a checking account with the Congressional Federal Credit Union and one with Merrill Lynch, each valued between $250,000 and $500,000; the tens of thousands of dollars he's earning from dividends from a number of mutual funds and stocks; and the money made from the sale of a Harlem townhouse. As a result, Mr. Rangel's reported net worth doubled, from between $516,015 and $1,316,000 to between $1,028,024 and $2,495,000.

We called on Mr. Rangel to resign his coveted post last November while the House ethics committee probed his contact with a potential donor to a pet project who also had business before the committee. Mind you, that committee already was looking into his using official stationery to raise funds for that pet project, paying below-market rents on four Harlem apartments, failing to report income from a Florida condominium sale and failing to pay taxes on a home in the Dominican Republic. There's another subcommittee investigation into lobbyist-paid trips by Mr. Rangel and four other members of Congress.

Much is expected of elected officials. Much more is expected and demanded of those entrusted with chairmanships and the power that comes with them, especially when it involves the nation's purse strings. From all that we've seen thus far, Mr. Rangel has violated that trust continually and seemingly without care.

Yale Law School and Why Van Jones went There

During the Anita Hill hearings after a series of implausible witnesses all of whom were black Yale law school graduates, Juan Williams wrote in the Washington Post that he could now understand the wisdom of the saying that Yale law school had ruined more good black minds than crack. I have found that to be an accurate observation and have always been grateful to Juan for having brought that to my attention.

Real Time New Rules: Grow a Set and Stand Up for the 70% of Americans Who Aren't Crazy

QUOTE
Maher: The Democrats just never learn. Americans don’t really care which side of an issue you’re on as long as you don’t act like p#&$ies. When Van Jones called the Republicans assholes, he was actually paying them a compliment. He was. He was talking about how they can get things done even when they’re the minority as opposed to the Democrats who can’t seem to get anything done even when they control both houses of Congress, the Presidency and Bruce Springstein.

You know I love Obama’s civility, his desire to work with his enemies… he’s positively Christ-like. In college he was probably the guy at the dorm parties who made sure the stoners shared their pot with the jocks.

But we don’t need that guy now. We need an a-hole. Mr. President, there are some people who are never going to like you. That’s why they voted for the old guy and Carrie’s mom.

You’re not going to win them over. Stand up for the 70% of Americans who aren’t crazy.

And speaking of that 70%, when are we going to actually show up in all this? You know tomorrow Glenn Beck’s army of zombie retirees are descending on Washington. It’s the million moron march. Although they won’t get a million of them of course because many will be confused and drive to Washington State.

But they will make news because people who take to the streets always do. They’re at town hall meetings screaming at the Congressmen. We’re on the couch screaming at the T.V. You know especially in this age of Twitters and blogs and Snuggies, it’s a statement just to leave the house.

But leave the house we must because this is our last best shot for a long time to get the sort of serious health care reform that would make the United States the envy of several African nations.

Rep. Stark: ‘I wouldn’t dignify you by peeing on your leg’

Town halls are starting to look less like literal representations of democracy and more like so-ridiculous-it-has-to-be-scripted reality shows.

Congressman Pete Stark (D-CA) told a constituent at a recent town hall meeting that he wouldn’t “waste the urine” to pee on the man’s leg.

As the San Francisco Chronicle reports, and a video confirms, the man stood near the congressman and listed off what he felt were “smoke and mirrors” promises in the Obama administration’s healthcare reform proposal. At the close of his remarks, which he delivered in a civil tone, the constituent said: “Mr. Congressman, don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.”

Some in the crowd whooped and cheered, but Stark, who is known for his sharp tongue, responded calmly:

“Well, I wouldn’t dignify you by peeing on your leg. It wouldn’t be worth wasting the urine.”

If President Obama and Democrats in Washington continue to dismiss the genuine anger over their health care reform proposals, they will set themselves up for electoral disaster.

Americans came to town hall meetings in July and August to yell at their congressmen, and they marched on Washington on Saturday, because they resent being treated so disrespectfully.

They resent being fed obviously untrue statements about what health care reform would do. They resent having undetailed legislation rushed through without anyone -- even members of Congress -- having read it. (This is at least the second time this year that's happened.)

They resent being called "un-American" and labeled pawns of special interest groups. They resent the suggestion that their questions and concerns are just partisan "bickering."

Americans have been treated shabbily by this President and his party. That treatment is the cause of their anger. It is perfectly obvious. One only has to listen to realize it. And yet Obama is oblivious. He doesn't listen; he only talks.

At this rate, he is going to talk his party out of majority status. Refusing to listen to the people is never a good political strategy.

YET ANOTHER BRAINDEAD POLITICIAN

By Neal Boortz @ September 17, 2009 8:16 AM

The people of California should be spanked for continuing to re-elect Maxine Waters to the Congress. This woman is truly a reflection of what I like to call the dumb masses. She's a notorious race pimp, so this whole uproar about racism probably sends tingles up her leg. She is just itching to jump into the conversation.

So here's what she had to add to this countries dialogue on race.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoLk9xcVb_g...player_embedded

So here's what she had to add to this countries dialogue on race.

Maxine Waters believes that the media should investigate the racial views of conservative activists, like people who attend tea party rallies. She believes that it is not enough for African-Americans ... or as us non politically correct people like to say, "blacks" ... it is not enough for blacks to cry racism against these people. What we really need to do is use the media to expose their racist bias.

Here is how it went in her own words: "I want those people talked to; I want them interviewed ... I want journalists to be all over those rallies and the marches with the birthers and the teabaggers ... I think it's not enough for African-Americans to say what they think, what they suspect ... I think that if you put the microphones in front of them, if you do the interviews, they'll tell you what they believe, what they think."

By the way, do you think it is fair to lump birthers and tea party protesters in the same category? Because that seems to be the norm for Democrats lately. I would hope there would be a giant difference between people who are fed up with the size of our imperial federal government and the moonbats who believe that Barack Obama was born in Kenya.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoLk9xcVb_g...player_embedded
Nomarchy
I am not a big fan of Maxine Waters but in this case I think her proposal is sound.

Instead of just opining/guessing that Tea Party and Birther individuals are racially prejudiced against Blacks, it's preferable to actually FIND OUT what their views and attitudes are and examine IF there is, in fact, (as much as answers to questions or surveys really get at people's views and attitudes) even a correlation between being a 'Tea Party" or "Birther" person and racially prejudiced views and attitudes.

How does that not make sense?

No, I said it would be best to actually find out. Not by force. But by having, hopefully properly trained, survey-researchers and interviewers ask them about their views overall, their motivations, their concerns, etc.

What Davis and I opined was that only those who FEARED what would come out of such research would seek to badmouth Maxine Waters (whom neither one of us particularly likes, in general) for proposing that we actually find out what people in the Tea Parties, etc. really think.

No. I don't think they caused it. But I KNOW they USED IT.

They stood on the bodies of the victims of 9/11 and used their deaths as the GOP's version of the Reichstaag fire to rally their nationalist base. I know Nazis set the Reichstaag fire. But Republicans capitalized on 9/11 more effectively than the original Reichstaag. They used 9/11 and the fear it generated to both elevate themselves with false patriotism and destroy their enemies using the new McCarthyism, lies and accusations of 'terrorist sympathizer'.

It was the lowest thing I've ever seen in politics.

They USED 9/11 as a vehicle for their political and financial ambitions. It was a golden opportunity. The 'permanent majority', AKA a coup, was almost within their grasp. We dodged a bullet there.
